| We would like to say a big thank you to Noah Hunt for giving us permission to hire a videographer to produce a professional personal live video recording of tonight's show at Madison Theater! Noah was cool enough to allow us to do this. He really cares about his fans! We had tickets to the show but could not attend. The video captures Noah Hunt and The 420 All-Stars' performance in it's entirety and is great memorabilia of a moment in time in Noah Hunt's career. As music fans we appreciate the opportunity to record a live show! Thank you so much!! Meow & Stacia Rose NoahHunt.org This project was financed by noahhunt.org and is not for sale or trade. |

| Madison Theater July 26, 2003 ~ The Highlights & Gossip Only! Let's gossip about : The Players: *MIA from this show was percussionist Duran Murphy, which means NO Tambourine playing for Noah during this gig. *Sitting in with the band on several tracks including Away, Away, Peace of Mind, Midnight Sun & Grey on keys was guest musician Phil Ritchey of the band WorldWide . The Gear & Style: *Noah was NOT wearing BLACK for this performance. The Madison crowd caught Noah looking relaxed in a short-sleeve light blue button up shirt. (Barely buttoned, I'll add for the sake of good gossip!) Light faded blue jeans with his Harley Davidson boots and a gold cross necklace. Noah's hair was longer than usual...looks like it's growing out. *Bassist Alex Hughes, who had his own female fan section in the audience was looking very good in a black sleeveless shirt. We could also see drummer Todd Knapke's face for some of the show...he didn't wear his trademark black "poor boy" hat for the entire set! The Fans: *Noah commented to the audience his "thank you's" for coming out to tonight show and see the band play. One of his female fans in the front screamed to Noah. Noah repeated for the crowd, " Came from Florida right here", pointing her out. "Came from Florida, well thank you." *As the band was getting equipment ready to play Midnight Rambler Noah also had one female fan brave enough to confront him about not playing his tambourine. She jumped on stage, kneeling in front of Noah and asked him about it. He spoke quietly and politely to her as she persisted. He then said for all to hear "You can't sit here and kneel on the side- on the front of the stage," and he laughed out loud. She asked him something more and Noah joked gently "Yeah my tambourine's lost somewhere in Des Moines Iowa or something." He patted her on the head and then tapped her on the shoulder giving her a subtle cue to depart. After what seemed like several moments, security came over, knelt down and spoke to her and Noah commented, "See we have very gentle security.." and then he cracked up with more laughter. Security walked off stage alone and Noah helped his Tambourine lovin' fan to her feet with a secure grip on her left arm. She made more comments to him and he replied "If we can find a tambourine we're gonna bring her out boys." He put one arm around her, looking embarassed as they faced the crowd. She then flexed her muscle to the audience. Noah finally said, "She's hot though". The song kicked in with an extended instrumental, as Noah quickly headed for the side stage door to recover from the incident. When he returned, he grabbed the rails to the steps heading downward and playfully catapulted the steps. The Laughs & Mishaps: *Noah messed up the lyrics to a verse on Long Black Train. He quickly remembered them though and recovered the song. He smiled back at the band, laughing at himself. *Noah's guitar strap fell off his guitar as he was getting ready to play at the beginning of a song. He looked down at himself noticing the falling strap and made a face. By the end of the night he began calling it "my new trick strap". *While Introducing Dan Hunt on stage Noah comments that he's know Dan since Dan was 19 years old and joked, "that was back when Dan had feathered hair." Dan joked, "you had feathered hair too." Noah replies, "Yeah but I was in the 8th grade then". Noah goes on to tell the crowd about how he has a picture of Dan with the feathered hair and Dan has a picture of him with feathered hair so the both have to behave. (implying they could blackmail each other with embarassment) *The fan jumping on stage incident qualifies for this section as well!! During the song Midnight Rambler at the verse where Noah sings "I'm tired of all these crazy women.." he points down in the direction of the stage scaling fan. *During the All New Minglewood Blues where someone always hands Noah a double shot of whiskey, he picked up a bottle from the stage floor. Noah checked out the lable to make out the contents and nearly laughed and hollared out "CIDER" and then took a swig. He continued on with the song, "A couple more shots of cider" (accent on the cider) having fun in the moment. He went on to swig the cider down in front of the crowd and then when he moved out of the spotlight so the band could jam, he finished off the bottle. (It was very hot in Madison Theater tonight!) The Show: *Noah excitedly announced a new addition to the set a few times early into the show that he seemed eager to perform and share with the audience. During what he called "A Tribute To Unknown Texas Songwriters" three chairs were brought out center stage. Noah, Alex and guitarist Snake Miller relaxed with their instruments on their laps as they performed the quieter part of the setlist. Three brand new cover songs performed by Noah, plus a favorite by the Cincinnati songwriter Dan Hunt. Noah explained he got the idea from a Willie Nelson show he attended in Shreveport not long ago. The cover songs he chose were from his favorite Texas songwriters of all time, he described them as folk and wanted the audience to see where some of his musical inspiration came from. He sang the songs with a "blues" feel in a deep and soulful tone and the music played out with a country quitar twang. It seemed like a serenade, as he poured his heart into the vocals of these songs. Noah talked about being a fan of Townes Van Zandt and how he had the opportunity to meet Joe Ely on a cruise ship. With enthusiasm Noah questioned Ely aboard the ship about his late friend Van Zandt to Noah's content. Noah said he had a "love affair" with these songwriters growing up in college, and then he clarified "not literally, but a love affair with their music." He then looked to his right at Alex Hughes and said "That came out wrong," and laughed! *Hunt demonstrated some light finger picking on "Colorado Girl," the first of the three songs performed. On "Grey" the original song by Dan Hunt, Noah joked that the song was one of his favorites but he forgot how to play it, so he asked Dan to stand in and play next to the three seated musicians as Phil Richie took over the keyboards. On this track, Noah remained seated, guitarless and rubbed his thigh & played with the mic chord throughout the ballad version. Those hands were restless. Comments: *Noah commented right before he performed Peace Of Mind that some troops had been sent home today and no matter where you stand on the conflict, it's good to see those guys come home. *Noah gave a shout out to the celebration of Harley Davidson's 100th Anniversary. *Before Noah introduced Alex Hughes to the fans he slyly said "Ladies...." (because we all know that Noah feels Alex is the cute one who attracts all the women) *Noah let the audience know that they could purchase his "folk" album Long Black Train in the back from a lovely lady. *Noah thanked Hyde Park Outrage and Stonewater, who he commented "those guys kicked ass!" for opening the show for them tonight. *At the end of the show Noah reminded his friends and fans that if they've been drinking too much to please take a cab home or walk because he wanted to see them all back next time they play! |
